Ruhi Tewari is the author of ‘What Women Want – Understanding the Female Voter in Modern India’, a deeply reported and extensively researched exploration of how Indian women are reshaping democracy through the ballot box. Ruhi is a Delhi-based journalist with nearly two decades of experience in tracking politics, policy and the intersection of the two across leading media houses and has worked with some of the most credible media organisations like ThePrint, Indian Express and Mint. She has combined her extensive ground reporting with her data crunching and analytical skills to produce some of the most credible election reportage in recent years. Ruhi has also specialised in tracking the policy environment, specifically welfare delivery, and the impact of state initiatives on the ground. With a layered, contextual and in-depth book that looks at the evolution and dynamics of the woman vote in the country, Ruhi has established herself as a leading voice in the area of gender, politics, elections and their intersection.

 

Ruhi Tewari did her schooling from the prestigious Maharani Gayatri Devi School in Jaipur. Her Undergraduate degree was in Economic Honours from Hindu College, Delhi University, following which she did her Post Graduation from the Asian College of Journalism in Chennai.

 

Ruhi has her roots in Assam and Rajasthan, and is fluent in English, Hindi and Assamese. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching thrillers and pursuing her learning of Hindustani Classical Vocal music. She currently lives in New Delhi with her husband and their fur baby.
